Kostinbrod
Kostinbrod was build in an area, where there was a Roman residence with a fort wall. A part of a fort tower is used as a symbol in the gerb.
The sun is one of the most wonderful and optimistic heraldic symbols and it is no coincidence it stands out the most in the gerb. The rooster and the sunflower are symbols of the emerging Kostinbrod economy, including highly developed aviculture and the infamous sunflower oil brand "Нива" (Niva).
The key is not only a symbol of hospitality, but it means a road, crossroad, passageway or in this case a ford. That's why there's a river below.
The rooster is known as a symbol of pride, bravery and honor. It's also one of the emblems of Christ, emphasizing it's solar symbolism - light and resurrection.

The rooster and the sunflower are symbols of the emerging Kostinbrod economy, including highly developed aviculture and the infamous sunflower oil brand "Нива" (Niva).

Sunflower oil brand „Нива” is probably the greatest pride of Kostinbrod during the years of the socialism. Practically there weren't any households in Bulgaria that were not familiar with the infamous national manufacturing factories „Георги Димитров” (Georgi Dimitrov), although the credit for those factories build long before September 9th 1944 should go to the famous Bulgarian industrialist Никола Чилов (1885-1936; en - Nokola Chilov).
